Sharing is caring is sustainable!

At the international “Digisustain” trade fair in Frankfurt, everything revolved around the topic of sustainability. In addition to numerous conferences, various company exhibitions and innovative formats, the focus was on the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how to achieve them.

Satellite Office CEO Anita Gödiker was invited to give a key note speech. As the founder of Satellite Office, she pioneered the idea of “sharing workplaces” over 26 years ago, and the basic idea is more important today than perhaps ever before. “Sharing is caring is sustainable” was the title of her keynote.

Anita Gödiker took her audience on the journey of Satellite Office: the transformation to new, natural materials and construction methods that is increasingly affecting us both indoors and outdoors, but also the change in people’s attitudes. In the past, it was all about saving costs, speed and a temporary place to work. Today, it’s about conserving resources by sharing communal spaces, it’s about ‘green’ facilities, it’s about peace and quiet and health in the workplace. And it’s about likeminded people, i.e. people who have similar views on the topic of sustainability, who bring the topic forward. Costs are no longer the top priority. Hybrid work is becoming the norm. In order to better map the processes of hybrid working, providers of flexible workspaces such as Satellite Office will develop ever more comprehensive event spaces. The outsourcing of meetings and conferences will continue to increase. The attractiveness of the offering is then important: Satelllite Office is ahead of this trend with roof terraces and fireplace lounges. Anita Gödiker: “The circle will soon be complete! Because nowadays, all things that can be shared are shared: Parking spaces for bicycles and cars, coworking areas, light, manpower and much more. A provider like us will soon be available in all modern buildings, it will be a matter of course! For economic reasons, it will soon no longer be profitable even for large companies to operate their own office buildings.”

So the days of “my house, my car, my office” seem to be over! What do you think? We look forward to your input.
